Viva Cruises is continuously offering new products in addition to routes along the Rhine, Moselle and Danube, said Andrea Kruse, CEO and co-founder of VIVA Cruises.
“We are in our second season on Portugal’s Douro River and will soon sail on the Seine in France with the Viva Beyond,” she said in the 2026 European River Cruise Market Report by Cruise Industry News.
She added that another aim is to go beyond traditional routes. For the first time, Viva is offering a cruise to Copenhagen. A highlight is a private transfer to the Danish capital.
Another development at VIVA is the introduction of VIVA Boutique.
“Guests can tailor their journey based on three focuses: Culinary Experiences, Culture & Lifestyle, or Art. The inaugural cruise is scheduled for May 2026 in Paris,” Kruse said.
Viva Cruises’ markets include Germany, as well as Norway, the U.S.A, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg.
“We’re especially pleased to regularly welcome guests from countries such as Brazil, Sweden and Australia onboard,” highlighted Kruse.
More to Come
Viva’s ships operate year-round and offer summer cruises and shorter itineraries over Christmas and New Year’s. Another highlight is its wellness cruises.
“But it’s not just the itineraries that continue to evolve; our fleet does too. In addition to the upcoming launch of the Viva Enjoy in 2025, the Viva Beyond will join us in 2026. And there is more to come in 2027.”

Kruse said that Viva Cruises’ guests are younger and more active. She also highlighted the uptake in year-round cruising and a significant number of new-to-cruise passengers.
Kruse said that while there are always challenges such as high or low water levels or locks that are closed or damaged, the company strives to offer guests the best possible experience through both itineraries and its onboard offering.
According to Kruse, Viva’s strength is diversity, and it stands out in that it attracts diverse guests; they bring their own stories, creating a cultural exchange onboard.
“We ensure that both English and German are consistently spoken onboard … one thing is certain: The coming years with us will be anything but boring.”
