Holland America Line’s private island in the Bahamas, Relax Away, Half Moon Cay, recently celebrated the grand opening of four pickleball courts. According to a press release, the addition of pickleball courts is part of the cruise line’s drive to enhance the island, alongside other improvements such as new experiences and refurbished amenities.

Holland America Line already offers guests onboard top-deck pickleball courts, as it is the first and only cruise line partner of the Professional Pickleball Association. Still, guests can now also enjoy the courts at the private island when visiting.

“Pickleball has become one of our most popular activities across the fleet, so adding courts to our private island lets guests enjoy the game in one of the most stunning settings imaginable. All of the enhancements build on what makes the island so special, creating even more ways for guests to relax and enjoy their day. We’re continuing to elevate the Relax Away, Half Moon Cay experience while preserving its uncrowded beaches and unspoiled charm,” said Michael Smith, senior vice president of guest experience and product development for Holland America Line.

Guests on Eurodam and Rotterdam inaugurated the new courts at the island’s sports area by competing in a tournament during their visits on December 6. Those who visit in the future and enjoy the pickleball courts will also have access to refreshed cabanas and day beds, more beach chairs offering more spots to relax, and new clamshell loungers and sunshades. Cabana rentals come with complimentary beverages, snacks, and snorkeling gear.
